Speed in e-KYC
Over 84.8 crore e-KYC transactions were done using Aadhaar in the October-December quarter of FY 2022-23. This is 18.53 percent more than in the second quarter (July-September) of the current financial year. Let us tell you that in December alone, 32.49 crore e-KYC transactions have been done using Aadhaar, which is 13 percent more than the previous month.
Figures released by the government
Aadhaar e-KYC service is increasingly playing an important role for banking and non-banking financial services by providing transparent and better customer experience and helping in ease of doing business. According to government data, the number of Aadhaar e-KYC transactions in October stood at 23.56 crore and such transactions have gone up to 28.75 crore in November, before surging further in December, showing its increasing use and utility in the economy.
Verification is not required
By the end of December 2022, the total number of Aadhaar e-KYC transactions has gone up to 1,382.73 crore. E-KYC transactions are done only after the explicit consent of the Aadhaar holder and thereafter physical paperwork and in-person verification is no longer required for KYC.
Digital ID is being used everywhere
Around 8,829.66 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions have been done till the end of December 2022. This shows how Aadhaar is playing a growing role in financial inclusion, welfare delivery and availing many other services. Over 1,100 government schemes and programs in the country, run by the central and state governments, have been notified to use Aadhaar. Digital ID helps various Ministries and Departments at the Center and States to improve efficiency, transparency and delivery of welfare services to the targeted beneficiaries.
