Bank Strike Alert: A strike has been announced in banks on Monday and Tuesday i.e. 30 and 31 January. SBI said that we have been informed by the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) that the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has issued strike notice to the associations associated with UFBU ie AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA etc. Bank employees have announced to go on nationwide bank strike on 30 and 31 January 2023 to get their demands met.

Strike expected to affect work

In view of this, the State Bank of India (SBI) has informed the customers that due to the two-day bank strike called by the Union Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on January 30 and 31, the functioning may be affected. SBI said that we were told by the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) that UFBU has informed about the strike.

What are the demands of the bank employees going on strike?

AIBEA General Secretary CH Venkatachalam said that the strike has been announced to resume the bank employees’ movement. He told that there are 5 demands of bank employees – banking, pension should be updated, many old issues, NPS should be abolished, salary should be revised and recruitment should be done in all cadres.

Banks will remain closed on these dates

  • January 28 is the fourth Saturday, so the bank will remain closed.
  • 29 January is a weekly holiday on Sunday.
  • The bank will remain closed on 30 and 31 January due to the bank employees’ strike.

What are the five demands of bank employees

  • Banking work should be done in five days.
  • Pension should be updated.
  • NPS should be abolished.
  • There should also be talks for an increase in salary.
  • The recruitment process in all cadres should be started at the earliest.
