Diesel costlier by Rs 3, petrol cheaper by 0.55 paise. New VAT comes into force.

Generally, petrol prices across the country are around ₹ 100 per liter and especially in states like Bihar, Mumbai etc. its price is ₹ 107-108. On the other hand, the price of diesel is usually between 95 to 100 across the country. The prices of diesel and petrol affect the people on a daily basis and the general public keeps an eye on the ups and downs in it.

In Himachal Pradesh, the government has increased the Value Added Tax and now diesel has become costlier by ₹ 3 per liter as compared to earlier, due to which diesel is now being sold in Himachal Pradesh at ₹ 86 per liter instead of ₹ 83 per litre. Talking about the same petrol prices, a reduction of 0.55 paise has been made in the form of Value Added Tax.

After all the taxes in every state, the state government imposes value added tax on the price of petrol and diesel, due to which the public gets different prices of petrol diesel according to the value added tax imposed by the state government in every state.

Value Added Tax in Bihar and Maharashtra is very high by the state government, due to which petrol diesel is more expensive in these two states than in other states. State governments fill their coffers with this VAT.
