Old Pension Scheme started. The newly elected Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh on Friday restored the old pension scheme. This will benefit 1.36 lakh employees and officers of the National Pension Scheme (HPS). Along with this, cabinet sub-committees were constituted to provide monthly pension of Rs 1500 to women and one lakh jobs to the youth, which will submit their report in a month.
Election promise fulfilled.
The Congress had given 10 guarantees in the manifesto during the assembly elections. The Congress had promised to fulfill three guarantees in the first meeting of the cabinet. In the first meeting, one guarantee has been completed while work has started on two. The first meeting of the cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu at the State Secretariat in Shimla on Friday, in which these decisions were taken.
12 NPS employees still have no benefit.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the notification for OPS restoration will be issued in a day or two. Retired 12 thousand NPS employees will not get any benefit for the time being. An expenditure of 800 to 900 crores is estimated on OPS in the first year. The corporations and boards which already have provision of OPS will also get its benefit.
