The citizens of India are required to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) to their Aadhaar cards by March 31, 2023. To complete income-tax-related tasks such as filing income returns, this linking is extremely important. The requirement goes up with banking transactions of Rs 50,000 and above.
The consequences of not linking a PAN with an Aadhaar card will result in losing the ten-digit unique alphanumeric number. If the deadline is missed, all the financial transactions linked to PAN will cease to function.
LAST DATE AND PENALTY
The deadline was extended from March 31, 2022, to March 31, 2023.
Individuals need to pay an amount of Rs 1000 to get started with the linking process.
